A Closer Look with Sheila Liaugminas, June 13, 2018

On today’s show:

  • Special Guest: George Weigel, Papal biographer of Pope John Paul II, and Distinguished Senior Fellow of Washington’s Ethic and Public Policy Center. In light of recent strides/Trump-Kim Summit – the evangelization of North Korea is issue at hand…time will tell.
  • State of the Catholic Church in China: the underground vs state “officially” run; border is permeable.  Attempt by the Holy See to reunite the parts is noble. Nomination process needs scrutiny; increasing repression of Christian communities in China is of great concern. Pray for wisdom for the Holy See; pray for the persecuted.
  • Amend Ireland’s Constitution (Link: https://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2018/06/after-the-irish-debacle ) Pro-abortion forces are the Iona Institute, a think-tank led by one of Ireland’s leading Catholic laymen, David Quinn.
  • World Meeting of Families Synod 2018 should reflect John Paul 2nd appeal: transparent honesty; never settle for less than the spiritual grandeur of God.  Catholic media should flood the zone with success stories of what’s happening in youth ministry; vocations; missionaries, etc.
