Protecting the Electoral College

  • Hour 3 of 9-9-19
  • Andrew Malcolm joins Drew to talk about a new politician jumping in to run against President Trump. Former Gov. Mark Sanford has now said he will face off against the current president, and he was asked why on Fox News Sunday. Sanford is concerned about the growing debt and how much President Trump is spending. He says that the Republican party needs to return to its original conservative principles on key issues. Malcolm says that the president is not guaranteed to win in the next election, and he expresses concern that if President Trump doesn’t hold back on his rhetoric, he could lose the White House.
  • Hans von Spakovsky on protecting the Electoral College. Many of the leading Democrats such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Kamala Harris want to see it abolished. They are upset that President Trump lost the popular vote but won the Electoral vote, and they think it should be done away with. According to Spakovsky, they want the urban areas of the country to outweigh the rural areas in terms of presidential election success. He also explains how the Electoral college works and how people are selected to be a part of it.
