- Sadly, the federal death penalty has been reinstated. AG William Barr, a Catholic, wanted this to come back, despite what the Church says against capital punishment. So this morning, we saw an execution of a man who was claiming his innocence up to the point of his death. But why is the Church against the death penalty? Some callers still explain their reasoning for wanting it, some citing passages in the Old Testament. Msgr Stuart Swetland advises.
