Day 15: Mother of Good Counsel, Pray for Us!

good counsel

This title, added to the Litany by Pope Leo XIII in 1903, refers to an image of Our Lady near Rome which is greatly venerated by the faithful of that region, including Pope Leo XIII and Pope Pius XII, who dedicated his Pontificate that began in 1939 at the beginning of World War II to “Our Lady of Good Counsel.”

The well-known image has been venerated since the middle ages and one story tells of its miraculous journey from Albania to a Church in Genazzano, about thirty miles south of Rome. The white scapular is related to this image.  And what is the best “counsel” our Blessed Mother ever gave?  At Cana, She said, “Do whatever he tells you.”  Here are five words for us to consider this day.  Five words that will change your life.

Mother of Good Counsel, Pray for our Church and our Nation.

On Tuesdays we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries.
