Give Up Worry for Lent (Morning Air)

Ever thought about giving up worry for Lent? Sounds impossible, right? But that’s exactly what Gary Zimak is challenging us to do. He sat down with John Morales on Morning Air to talk about how to actually surrender our anxiety to God, and why we need to.

Gary knows what he’s talking about because he’s been there. He’s battled anxiety himself, so he’s not just throwing out vague spiritual clichés. In the podcast episode, he explains the difference between worry and anxiety (because yes, there is a difference) and shares how learning to trust in God completely changed his life.

Jesus straight-up tells us not to worry. It’s not a polite suggestion; it’s a command! (See: Matthew 6:25-34.) So why do we still cling to it like it’s our job?

Gary reminds us that surrendering to God isn’t just a one-time decision; it’s a daily, even hourly practice. But when we do, we start to see that whatever struggle we’re in has a purpose. God hasn’t abandoned us, and He never will.

So if you’re tired of carrying that heavy burden of worry, consider setting it down this Lent. Give it to Jesus. And if you need a little guidance, check out Gary’s book: “Give Up Worry for Lent: 40 Days to Finding Peace in Christ.”

This Lent… let’s trade anxiety for actual peace. Who’s in?
