Brooke Taylor sat down with Dr. Edward Sri on Thursday to discuss the concept of externalization and why Catholics should stop focusing on the macro problems of the world.
He said that very often, he hears people say, “I wish I could get more out of Mass. We need better Liturgy. We need better Catechesis. We need better government officials. We need better laws.”
While some, most, or all of that may be true, it means nothing if you’re not going to do anything about it. What can we control? Our problems, our defects, our faults, and how we can improve by drawing closer to Jesus, forming a relationship with Him.
GK Chesterton was once asked what he thought the biggest problem in the world was. His answer was, “Me.” We are all broken and we all need Our Lord to renew us.
