Drew Mariani Show: Live from Indianapolis
Last week in Indianapolis, something truly remarkable happened—the National Eucharistic Congress. It was a moment where pilgrimage routes from all over the country converged, creating an atmosphere buzzing with excitement and deep faith.
Guest Highlight: Tim Glemkowski
Tim Glemkowski, the outgoing CEO of the National Eucharistic Congress, shared some incredible insights during the event. Imagine this: over 250,000 people joined the pilgrimage, and a crowd of 50,000 filled the venue. Tim’s dedication over the past two and a half years really shone through, with countless apostolates and a bustling expo hall showcasing the strength and unity of the Church.
The last National Eucharistic Congress was 83 years ago, in 1941. Sure, there was an International Eucharistic Congress in Philadelphia in 1976 with St. John Paul II and St. Mother Teresa, but this national gathering was something we’ve all been eagerly waiting for.
This Congress wasn’t just an event—it was part of a three-year revival aimed at reigniting belief in the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Studies have shown that many Catholics struggle with this belief, and the Congress sought to spark a personal encounter with Jesus and inspire a renewed missionary zeal.
During the Congress, the focus was on encountering Jesus, healing, and being sent on mission. This gathering served as a beacon for the entire Church in the U.S., a time to reignite our faith and go out to evangelize and renew our culture.
The hopes for the future were sky-high. The vision was for a Church in the U.S. that could invite people into a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ, especially through the Eucharist. Imagine the incredible changes that could come from a grassroots renewal!
Tim’s personal journey from Wheaton, Illinois, to leading this significant initiative showed the dedication and passion driving this revival. The Congress aimed to set the Church ablaze with a renewed love for the Eucharist and a commitment to evangelization.
