If ignorance is the problem, then sharing the truth can lead us to knowledge, the solution to ignorance. But what if the problem isn’t ignorance at all, but rather indifference?
60,000 people showed up to the National Eucharistic Congress to show reverence and honor to our God, present in the Holy Eucharist. Our problem is not that we don’t know the truth. Our problem is that, too often, we just don’t care.
That was the message of Fr. Mike Schmitz, the keynote speaker for Revival Session 2: The Greatest Love Story. Several times throughout the night, he reminded us, “I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know!” We don’t need a Eucharistic Revival because we don’t know the truth. We need the Revival because we left our first love (Revelations 2:4).
The solution to indifference is love, and the path to love is repentance.
