“Have You Considered Catholicism?”: Father’s Encouraging Message to a Baptized Lutheran (Father Simon Says)

In this episode of Father Simon Says, Fr. Richard Simon gets a heartfelt question from Joey, a Lutheran who loves tuning in to Relevant Radio. Joey’s wondering, “Am I breaking some sort of unwritten rule by listening to Catholic stuff?” Fr. Simon’s answer? Absolutely not! 🌟

Fr. Simon warmly reassures Joey that there’s no rule, written or unwritten, against a Lutheran enjoying Catholic content. In fact, he thinks it’s great!

Then, Fr. Simon shares a pretty eye-opening thought: when Protestants become Catholic, they don’t lose anything—they still have Jesus, the Bible, everything that’s been central to their faith. But they gain even more, like the sacraments, the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and a deep connection with the saints. On the other hand, when a Catholic leaves the Church, they’re leaving behind these incredible gifts. Fr. Simon gently suggests to Joey that it might be worth digging deeper into the Catholic faith. There’s a lot to gain and really nothing to lose. 📖✝️

Fr. Simon also gets a little personal here, talking about his own journey. He admits that being Catholic started out as something he was born into, but eventually, he had to make it his own choice. He’s been through times when he was pressured to leave the Church, but ultimately, he chose to stay because he believes it’s true. He thinks it’s important for everyone—to make their faith a personal decision, not just something inherited from their family.

Fr. Simon affirms his deep belief that the Catholic Church is the one founded by Jesus through the apostles. He encourages Joey, and really everyone listening, to keep exploring, learning, and making their faith something they truly own. 🌍✨
