On The Patrick Madrid Show, Patrick had an incredible convo with Kiva, a 17-year-old from Phoenix who’s living her best, phone-free life. Yep, you read that right: no smartphone ever. This girl is countercultural, joyful, and super proud of it. 🥳
What’s Her Story? 🤔
Kiva comes from a family that’s all about living the Catholic life in a radically refreshing way:
No smartphones for her or her siblings. (Her brother’s in high school, and he’s one of only two kids there without one!)
They noticed early on that kids with phones and TikTok? Not so happy. Lots of drama, exclusion, and even bullying. 😔 Meanwhile, Kiva and her homeschool crew are thriving without the distractions.
Her family focuses on things like Latin Mass, horseback riding, barn dancing, and, most importantly, keeping God at the center.
Countercultural Wins 🏆
Kiva shared how her family is “countercultural”:
They avoid social media and excessive screen time. Instead, they engage in fun, wholesome activities together.
She noticed that other parents are starting to come around, curious about the “no-phone” lifestyle after seeing the downsides in their own kids.
Patrick’s Take 👏
Patrick was blown away by Kiva’s joy and maturity. He praised her parents for being total “rock stars”, setting boundaries that are paying off big-time. He even joked about how every Catholic parent listening was probably wishing their kid could meet Kiva.
The Takeaway
Don’t be afraid to swim against the cultural tide. Phones aren’t the key to happiness: faith, family, and meaningful connections are. 📵💡
Can we get a round of applause for Kiva and her fam? 👏 God bless them for reminding us all what really matters. 🙌✨
