Patrick got a call from Sam in Coolidge, Georgia; you might remember him as the former Baptist who made the leap into the Catholic Church, thanks to some encouraging words from Patrick years ago. It’s one of those classic Relevant Radio Miracle Moments, and the audience seriously loves him.

Here’s the tough part: Sam’s been battling Parkinson’s, which has made talking and walking incredibly hard. That’s why he hasn’t called in a while. His voice was strained, but you could hear his strength. Despite it all, Sam still manages to “hobble” into Mass when he can, which is straight-up heroic.

Patrick made sure Sam knew what to do if he ever can’t make it to Mass: like talking to his priest about Holy Communion and the Anointing of the Sick.

Patrick ended the call by reminding Sam that even though he’s feeling pretty isolated, he’s got a whole family of people praying for him all around the world. And it’s true. You could almost hear the audience’s prayers pouring out through the radio.

It was one of those calls that makes you wanna pray a little harder, love a little deeper, and appreciate this big, beautiful Catholic family we’ve got.
