Pope Leo XIV: A Clear Moral Voice for Our Church (The Drew Mariani Show)

Drew Mariani sat down with Dr. Paul Kengor for a conversation about the brand-new shepherd of the Catholic Church: Pope Leo XIV.

Papal Beginnings with Purpose

Dr. Kengor paints a touching picture of Leo XIV’s early moments as Pope. From his first ride in the Popemobile to receiving the Fisherman’s Ring, Leo got to work right away.

📢 Clarity with Charity: A Pope Who Gets It

Leo XIV is bringing dialogue and doctrinal clarity to the table. Dr. Kengor called it “clarity with charity.” Think truth and tenderness.

In his early speech to the cardinals at the Sistine Chapel, Pope Leo even busted out a little English. 💬 He boldly proclaimed that doctrine doesn’t divide… it unites. It’s about guidance, not restriction.

🤖AI, Leo XIV, and the Future of Humanity

This Pope is visionary. Within 48 hours of becoming Pope, Leo was already talking about AI, drawing comparisons between today’s tech-driven upheaval and the Industrial Revolution of old.

He invoked Rerum Novarum, that powerhouse social teaching from Pope Leo XIII to frame AI as not just a tech issue, but a human dignity issue. 🧠💻

Pope Leo XIV sees AI as a major challenge and opportunity for the Church to stand up for:

-Human dignity

-Justice

-The rights of workers

This is a call to arms for Catholics to engage the world with truth, tradition, and tech-savviness.

🔥The Anti-Socialist, Pro-Truth Pope

Dr. Kengor reminded us how Rerum Novarum condemned socialism repeatedly and that Leo XIV is very much in line with that thinking. 🛑🪧

💡 Flashback:

-Rerum Novarum (1891)“Socialism? No.”

Quadragesimo Anno (1931) “Still no.”

-Centesimus Annus (1991) “Seriously, still no.”

Leo XIV, being an American, likely gets the cultural Marxism seeping into modern life, especially in academia. Drew and Dr. Kengor both nodded to the Pope’s American upbringing and his time in South America as gifts that give him both global and local awareness.

Hope, Direction, and Grit

Pope Leo XIV is thinking ahead, guiding the Church through cultural and technological turbulence like a theological GPS… “recalculating” us back toward truth when we veer off.

We must support this pope, pray for him, and walk with him as he steers the Barque of Peter through wild waters.

⛵️ We’ve got a solid captain at the helm. Thanks be to God.
