Rosary Novena Day 48: More Valuable than Jewels?

What is more valuable than jewels?

I once heard a story about a woman who had everything money could buy – a nice car, necklaces, jewels – the whole deal! Someone complimented her on her success. She responded that her husband had bought all of this for her. Then she said something remarkable:

“My husband buys me everything – jewels, cars, a house – but he won’t give me the thing I really want.”

“What’s that?” she was asked.

“His time.”

Isn’t that true? The thing we want most is time with those we love.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus is inviting us to spend time with Jesus and enter into His desire to be close to us. He is inviting us to know, love, and serve God with our whole hearts!

In his final encyclical Dilexit Nos, Pope Francis reflected on this meaning of the Sacred Heart:

“The eternal Son of God […] chose to love each of us with a human heart. His human emotions became the sacrament of that infinite and endless love. […] We need to keep in mind that his divine love is inseparable from his human love. The image of his heart of flesh helps us to do precisely this.” (Dilexit Nos §60)

Jesus’ Sacred Heart helps us understand His love! His heart is real, fully human and fully divine, aflame with the desire to be close to us. He shares our sadness, joy, exhaustion, excitement, stress, and pain. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is accompanying you in your daily life.
