Humility Isn’t Thinking Less of Yourself… It’s knowing where the good stuff comes from.
Msgr. Richter opens with the Catechism’s definition: “Humility is the foundation of prayer.” We need to know we’re not the source of our own goodness.
So, humility isn’t you standing in the mirror saying, “I’m not good enough.” It’s saying, “Wow. All this goodness in my life is not mine. It’s God’s, and I get to receive it.”
Humility is about being blown away by God’s outrageous generosity.
The Real Heart of Prayer
When you say to God, “Lord, I want more peace… more patience… more love…”
➡️ That desire didn’t start with you.
➡️ That holy ache is Him knocking on your heart.
🙌 Your desire is God’s desire showing up in your soul.
When you want to be more forgiving, that’s not you trying to impress God.
God is trying to give you more of Himself.
All you have to do is say yes.
💡 Saint Thérèse Got It, And It Changed Everything.
The Little Flower wanted to be a saint so badly but felt like a grain of sand next to the spiritual giants. She could’ve given up… but instead she said:
“God cannot inspire unrealizable desires.” 💖
If He puts that desire in your heart, He’s going to fulfill it.
You’re not tricking yourself into wanting holiness.
He’s drawing you into it.
What Does This Mean for Us?
If you’re feeling spiritually stuck, tired, or like you’re trying so hard to be holy and it’s just not working…Take a breath. God’s already at work.
That hunger in your heart? That restlessness? That longing for more peace or closeness to Him?
👉 That’s not a problem to fix. That’s a gift to receive.
Stop fighting it. Hold it up to Him. Rest in it. Let Him fill you.
Humility unlocks peace. It gets you out of your head and into a relationship. 🙏

-God is the source of everything good, including your desires.
-Prayer is a response.
-Humility is a radical awe at God’s goodness in your life.
-Want to grow? Just show up with your desire. God will take it from there.
–If it’s a holy desire… God put it there. He’s already working. Let Him.
