Hey friend 👋If you’re a Catholic mom or dad who’s ever found yourself staring at the ceiling at 3am worrying about your kids’ souls 😬…this episode of The Inner Life with Patrick Conley and spiritual director Fr. Timothy Gallagher is going to speak right to your heart ❤️🔥. You can listen to the entire episode about finding peace here.
Carol from Wisconsin called in with a heartbreakingly familiar situation:
-She’s got four kids, and three have drifted away from the Church. Carol is losing sleep over their salvation… and whether they’ll come back.
Fr. Gallagher responds with deep wisdom + gentle hope. Here’s his 3-part peace plan for parents:
God Is Already Working… All the Time
-Even if your kids don’t show it, God is in hot pursuit.
-St. Ignatius calls it God’s “loving assault” (what a phrase, right?!): that restless nudge in the heart when things aren’t right.
-It’s that deep-down spiritual itch that no Instagram scroll can quite scratch.
-God hasn’t forgotten about your kids… not even close.
What Can YOU Do? Three Big Things ❤️
Father keeps it simple but powerful:
-Always be a loving parent.
Even if they’re far away spiritually, let home be a place of unconditional love. Let them know they’re always welcome.
-Live your faith joyfully.
Let them see the difference Jesus makes in your life. Allow them to see your peace in storms. That quiet strength? That’s a sermon they can’t un-hear.
-Never stop praying.
Like, ever. Think St. Monica levels of relentless. Jesus promised: “Ask and you shall receive.” And He meant it.
So, if your heart aches every time you think about a child who’s wandered… you’re not alone. But you’re not powerless either. Love them. Pray without ceasing. 🙏✨
God’s got this. He loves your kids more than you ever could (even though you love them a lot 😭).
Jesus, we trust in You.
