The Value of Tradition – The Inner Life – December 10, 2025

Dave Heney joins Patrick to discuss The Value of Tradition

  • (3:54) What is Tradition in the Church?

(19:01) Break 1

  • What is the importance of family Traditions?
  • (23:19) Sandra – Tradition of pinatas and the origin. It comes from the Augustine’s of Mexico. Symbol represents seven deadly sins.
  • Christi – The Jesse Tree. Having the little ones decorate the ornaments.
  • (28:15) Pat – A couple traditions….the Rosary. Been doing it since 2008. Also, my wife and I have been saying good morning to God before starting the day. Try to put goodness to counteract the world and what’s going on.
  • George – Incorporating tradition in the family. How do I know if it’s something I like to do or share with my family? Example the Liturgy of the Hours.

(39:16) Break 2

  • Angel – My mother after Thanksgiving…everything stopped and there was no partying until Christmas. Everything was cleaned during that time and then brought the tree in Christmas Eve. Acted like a new baby was coming into the house. We don’t celebrate until late Christmas Eve.
  • What are times when traditions need to be curtailed?
