Some prayer intentions come with fear and uncertainty, especially when a loved one is facing cancer. On Family Rosary Across America, Roger from Sumter, South Carolina, called Fr. Rocky and Maggie with a heartfelt prayer request for his sister-in-law, Heidi.
Roger and his family had asked for prayers before when she had cancer, and now she needed surgery again, though they didn’t yet know when it would happen. Roger asked for healing prayers, hoping she didn’t end up needing the surgery. Fr. Rocky responded with faith and compassion: “Wouldn’t that be great?”
Then Roger shared something he wanted everyone listening to remember, especially anyone praying for a loved one who has fallen away.
“Just so everybody out there knows… people praying for their family to come back to the church, it works,” he said. Roger wasn’t speaking in generalities. “I’m one of those that was away for over 30 years before I came back to the church.”
Fr. Rocky affirmed the power of intercession: “Yes, they do. Thanks be to God.” And he added a prayerful hope for every family: He prayed that “all of our families, they all come back.”
