Nearly 400 smiling faces filled the grand ballroom at the Chicago Hilton Hotel on Friday, October 12, to join Relevant Radio® in honoring Frank and Shirley Schilling, founders of the Shrine of Christ’s Passion.
The Schillings have poured their hearts into the Shrine of Christ’s Passion in St. John, Indiana, creating a peaceful place of prayer that helps visitors enter into and meditate on the suffering and death of Our Lord during his last days. (Read more about the Shrine.) Upon receiving the Christ Brings Hope Award from Father Rocky and Tom Vorpahl, Frank and Shirley gave heartfelt testimonials about their faith, family, and the pivotal role Relevant Radio has played in bringing people to the Shrine and to Jesus.
The Relevant Radio Christ Brings Hope Award Dinner in Chicago also honored ten Illinois and Indiana pro-life pregnancy centers with the Caritas Dei award for their dedication to serving women and providing hope and alternatives to abortion: Aid for Women, Caring Network Illinois, Caris, Corbella Clinic, Southside Pregnancy Center, Waterleaf, The Well of Mercy, Women’s Care Center, The Women’s Centers of Greater Chicagoland, The Women’s Center of Northwest Indiana. Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of Springfield and Bishop Donald Hying of the Diocese of Gary, led everyone by opening and closing the evening in prayer, respectively. Drew Mariani served as emcee and Relevant Radio show hosts Fr. Richard Simon and Sheila Liaugminas were also in attendance.
