Back in May, Relevant Radio promoted a contest offering you, the participants in the Family Rosary Across America, to send us a picture of you and your family saying the rosary and that would enter you into the running to win a grand prize. Specifically, the winning family would be given an all-expenses-paid trip to Relevant Radio studios to meet Fr. Rocky, have dinner with him, pray the Family Rosary Across America live, and be treated to a getaway in the great city of Green Bay. Well, the wait is over.
Our winner is the Oliveira family from the little town of Hilmar, California! Parents Michael and Lindsey have a son, Parker, and two daughters, Payton and Penley. They own a ranch in the heart of dairy country, so they find themselves tending to all sorts of animals on a daily basis. When they aren’t herding cattle, they’re walking their dog while saying the family rosary!
Lindsey relayed how they had heard about Relevant Radio through their church and now they either tune into 840AM on the radio or use the Relevant Radio app everyday! It became such a tradition for the Oliveiras to say the rosary with Fr. Rocky and the 100,000 others across the world that their kids began to ask Michael and Lindsey if they could do it each night. Parker, Payton, and Penley know it by heart now, and even when the family takes trips, they make sure to find out which local station they can tune in to for the rosary.
Their favorite part of the rosary is hearing the stories and intentions of other listeners across the world, showing that though we may be far, there is still a connection and we are all one family, brothers and sisters in Christ. Michael mentioned that the intentions help put things in perspective as it reminds him how good many of us have it in comparison to the suffering that others may be going though. “When we hear what other folks are going through and what they’re asking prayers for, it really shines a light on how blessed we are as a family. It’s a constant reminder of the joy and blessings that have been bestowed on us.”
We couldn’t be happier at the winners and we look forward to hosting such a beautiful, happy, and united family at the Relevant Radio studios!
