Patrick Madrid takes a call from Cassandra, a new listener who recently started attending church and is new to the faith. Cassandra is about to get married to her partner, whom she has been with since she was 14, and they have three children together. They have decided to put their family first and embrace their faith.
However, Cassandra’s partner has friends who don’t share their values and are still focused on partying rather than family life. They invite him to events that involve excessive drinking and questionable behaviors. Cassandra feels uncomfortable with this situation and wants her partner to disengage from this negative influence.
Patrick shares two Bible verses to support Cassandra’s concerns. The first verse is 1 Corinthians 15:33, which warns against being deceived by bad company that can corrupt one’s morals. The second verse is 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, which describes a transformation from a sinful lifestyle to a new life in Christ and implies that one should not associate with those who continue in such behaviors.
Patrick encourages Cassandra to stand her ground and not compromise on her faith. He suggests praying for her partner’s understanding and urges her partner to disengage from his friends if he truly wants to follow Jesus.
Cassandra shares her own spiritual journey, how she felt an inner voice urging her to go to church, and how her faith has grown since then. She discovered Relevant Radio through her family members and expresses her gratitude for the support and hope she has received from the show.
