Rome, 303 AD. Emperor Diocletian struggles to unite a crumbling empire. The new religion of Christianity has torn too many Romans away from the traditional pagan religion, so Diocletian issues an edict making Christian worship illegal. Christians are forced to gather in secret, under threat of imprisonment and execution. This persecution, along with Emperor Diocletian’s upcoming visit to Rome, presents an opportunity for two up and coming actors to make a name for themselves. This is the story of the patron saint of actors, St. Genesius.
