The Family Rosary Across America at St. John Vianney College Seminary

On Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, became a radiant center of faith and unity as Father Francis “Rocky” Hoffman and Archbishop Bernard Hebda led the Family Rosary Across America. This powerful event brought people together to pray for the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary on the feast day of St. Teresa of Avila.

Tu es filius meus dilectus in te complacui. You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.

The seminary’s chapel was filled with prayerful hearts, including seminarians and members of the Virtuous Business Leaders organization. What made the evening even more special was the opportunity for these attendees to bring their personal prayer intentions to the microphone, offering them up for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The power of family prayer was especially emphasized. Participants prayed for Mary’s maternal protection over the seminary and the well-being of families, reminding us of the simple fact that Mary is our mother, and she will always protect us. Intentions included prayers for healing from family ailments, a greater outpouring of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit upon the seminarians, and deep gratitude for those who gave their lives to the Church.

Additionally, the event embraced broader concerns and intentions, praying for the sanctity of marriage, husbands and wives, and the importance of fatherhood and motherhood. The intentions also included prayers for first responders and military personnel, thanking them for their sacrifice and service to the nation. Special prayers were lifted for the students at the nearby University of St. Thomas and for the conversion of young people and family members who may have drifted from the faith.

The Family Rosary Across America, which regularly draws thousands to pray together, was a testament to the deep conviction that there is immense power in unified prayer, especially through the intercession of the Blessed Mother. Fr. Rocky and Archbishop Hebda spoke with great joy about the role of the Rosary in bringing hearts closer to Christ and fostering a sense of community within the Church. As families in their homes across the country prayed along with the seminarians, the presence of faith and hope was palpable.

The Family Rosary Across America highlights the belief that no matter the challenges or uncertainties faced in life, Mary stands for us all as a powerful intercessor before God.
