On November 26, 2024, Relevant Radio marked a remarkable milestone: the 24th anniversary of its first broadcast and the beginning of its 25th year of Bringing Christ to the world through the media! Relevant Radio kicked off its 25th year with a celebration event this past Sunday in Green Bay, WI. The day began with a solemn Mass at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Christ the King Sunday, where the community gathered to give thanks for all that God has accomplished through Relevant Radio over the years.
In his homily, the Most Rev. David L. Ricken spoke of the power of Catholic media in spreading the Gospel and the critical role that Relevant Radio has played in the lives of listeners across the nation. He called the anniversary a testament to the tireless work and devotion of all those involved in the mission.
The celebration continued at a special brunch, where former and present associates of Relevant Radio reunited to reflect on the network's journey. This gathering was a heartfelt reunion of those who have contributed to making Relevant Radio the largest Catholic radio network in the United States, and the atmosphere was filled with faith, gratitude, and a renewed commitment to the mission of evangelizing through the media. Among the attendees were the three founders of Relevant Radio: John Cavil, Mark Follett, and Bob Atwell. Their vision, begun in the early 2000s, has grown into a powerful force for evangelization, reaching millions through radio broadcasts and innovative programming.
As part of the celebration, show hosts Drew Mariani and John Morales, two iconic figures from Relevant Radio's rich history, were present to share in the joy of the occasion. Their leadership and voices have been instrumental in making Relevant Radio a household name in Catholic media.
The journey of Relevant Radio, from its humble beginnings as "Christ the King Communications" to its eventual transformation into the global media apostolate that is Relevant Radio, is a story of faith, perseverance, and the blessing of God. From the first broadcast in 2000, the network has grown exponentially, reaching millions and changing lives. However, through all the changes Relevant Radio has undergone, its message remains clear: to bring Christ to the world through the media.
As Relevant Radio moves forward into the next chapter, it does so with a deep sense of humility and gratitude. The anniversary celebration was not just a look back at the past but a moment to reaffirm the network’s mission, to continue serving the Church, and to bring Christ’s light into every home, heart, and soul.
