“I’m Trying to Figure Out Where I Belong”: Patrick’s Heartfelt Plea for Annie to Come Back to the Church

Patrick gets real with Annie from Los Angeles, who’s wrestling with where she truly belongs. She grew up Catholic, but somewhere along the line, got pulled toward Protestant churches and now feels caught in between. So, she calls Patrick to help her figure it all out.

Here’s the gist:

Jesus Was Jewish: But He Built This Church⛪: First off, Patrick clears up that Jesus was indeed Jewish, but he didn’t leave things as just a collection of “believers.” He actually built a Church, which had a structure, teachings, and the sacraments Annie received growing up.

Catholic = Christian 🕊️: Patrick explains that being Catholic doesn’t mean you’re not Christian: in fact, Catholicism is Christianity. He points out that Protestant churches began much later, breaking off from Catholicism, which is why they don’t agree on so many things.

The Bible: It’s a Catholic Gift 🎁: Annie’s Protestant friends may not realize this, but without the Catholic Church, there wouldn’t be a Bible as we know it! It’s a mind-blowing reminder: the Catholic Church preserved, translated, and shared these Scriptures, which many now use to argue against it.

Finding the Real Church: Patrick drives home that the Catholic Church has been around since day one, sticking to the teachings and structure Jesus set up. While other groups pop up and interpret things differently, the Catholic Church has been solidly keeping the faith for 2,000 years.

An Open-Hearted Invite Home 🏠: Patrick gently but confidently tells Annie she belongs in the Catholic Church. To help her figure things out, he even offers to send her a book (free of charge!) to explain Catholicism’s roots and beliefs a little deeper.

Annie’s honest: she keeps feeling pulled back to the Catholic Church, and it’s wrapped into everything in her life. Patrick’s final words are warm and real: “Come back, Annie; the Church is where you belong.” She sounds ready to pray about this more, and Patrick’s offer of continued help is open-ended, like a friend who will always be there.
