Rosary Novena Day 10: She Didn’t Feel Peace

Have you ever been in a situation where something felt off? Like you didn’t fit in?

That’s how St. Margaret Mary felt after leaving the convent and returning to normal life in her village. She had left behind her vow to become a nun and – though still pious – was giving her attention to the world, not to the faith.

Something in her heart felt unsettled. Life in the village didn’t satisfy her. She missed the rhythm of prayer, the silence, and the closeness to Jesus that she had felt in religious life.

This tug on her heart was no accident. It was part of her discernment. Sometimes, that lack of inner peace is the way God speaks to us.

St. Margaret Mary didn’t have a lightning-bolt moment where she instantly knew her vocation. It came slowly, through prayer, longing, and life experience. She paid attention to that inner discomfort and listened for God’s voice.

Often, God speaks not through a booming voice but through quiet nudges in your spirit. And here’s the thing – even if you’ve already found your vocation, whether it’s marriage, single life, or religious life, you’re still called to live it out daily. That’s where the challenge (and the grace) comes in!
