There are lots of ways to tell, but one of my favorites is when the child rests their head on their parent’s chest. You can tell – just by looking – that the child feels safe with their parent.
That’s how Jesus wants us to feel with Him! Don’t believe it? Just look at how Jesus treated St. Margaret Mary.
How do you know a child loves their mother or father?
St. Margaret Mary had rejected Claude’s marriage proposal and had kept her vow to become a nun. On December 27, 1673, St. Margaret Mary was kneeling before the Eucharist in adoration. Suddenly, Jesus appeared to her again. This time, He looked radiant! His Sacred Heart was glowing, surrounded by flames, encircled by a crown of thorns, pierced and bleeding. Jesus told her:
“My Divine Heart is so passionate with love for men […] that it can no longer contain the flames of its burning charity. It must pour them out through you.”
Then, Jesus invited St. Margaret Mary to place her head upon His Heart.
Jesus assured her that He is always present to us. You can rest your head on Jesus anytime – before you fall asleep, during your lunch, even in the car… as long as you keep your eyes open!
During that vision, Jesus also told St. Margaret Mary how sad He was that so many people ignore Him, especially in the Eucharist. So don’t let a day go by without praying, even if it’s a few words: “Jesus, I love you, I trust in you.”
