If you could give your children just one thing, what would you give them?

Money? Success? Friends? A good spouse? Tickets to the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series?

God has already given us the right answer! Only one thing is necessary: being close to Jesus! (Luke 10:42)

But when it comes to passing on the faith, it’s not always easy. Hopefully, the family experiences the joy of our faith and is close to Jesus. But no family is perfect. There can be tension, stress, and difficulties. Even so, Jesus does not abandon us. He came from a family too, and He wants to help our families be at peace!

Jesus says in the Second Promise of the Sacred Heart:  “I will establish peace in their homes.”

How do you receive this promise? Simple. Place an image of the Sacred Heart in your home, and honor it! By building the heart of your home on the peace of Jesus, you are passing on the faith to your children.

You don’t need a full shrine. Just place a small framed image on the wall or a holy card on the table where people can see it. When you see it, say a prayer and entrust your family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Every family struggles sometimes. We all need God’s help! Look at St. Margaret Mary – she and her mother struggled deeply for years. But with God’s grace, all things are possible. If you entrust your family to the Sacred Heart, Jesus will keep his promise!
