• Optional Memorial of St. Bridget of Sweden, 1303-1373; she had visions of Christ crucified from the age of 7; she lived her married life in the court of Swedish King Magnus II, and bore him eight children; after her husband’s death, she lived the life of a strict penitent; in 1350, she made a pilgrimage to Rome, during which she was hounded by debts and opposition to her work to correct church abuses; a final pilgrimage to the Holy Land was marred by a shipwreck and the death of her son Charles, eventually leading to her death
