Finding The Perfect Job

The BLS made a major revision. Earlier this month, the BLS revised down job numbers by 911,000 through March of 2025. And in August, the labor market added only around 22,000 jobs. So, with around 7.4 million Americans looking for jobs, it can be a challenge to stand out.

Bruce Lachenauer, Managing Parter of The Gaudium Group, an executive search and coaching firm, told Drew Mariani that getting trained in AI technologies is an important part of the current job market. “AI is changing the game…With the exception of maybe a few manual labor jobs, I think AI is going to permeate the entire workforce.”

In Lachenauer’s view, AI will provide new job opportunities in the future. “If you position yourself with either using AI or building infrastructure for AI, I think there’s going to be great employment opportunities for you.”

AI can even help in job hunting. Lachenauer affirmed one caller on The Drew Mariani Show who runs his resume through an AI program to help tailor it to the job description. Lachenauer also recommends making sure LinkedIn profiles, resumes, and social media are all matched. “You want all three of these singing from the same hymnal presenting a consistent view of you as someone who would be spectacular for that role.”

Finding the Dream Job

Finding the perfect job first entails knowing what the dream job is, Lachenauer said. He recommends using sites like the Labor Department’s O*Net to “help you align your passions…competencies and your experience with what the marketplace has.”

For those looking for jobs, Lachenauer cautions against job boards like LinkedIn. “Going through the job boards is not how you’re going to get the job.” Lachenauer believes the job boards serve best as a reference. “They give you visibility into the job marketplace so you can see where there are openings.”

He says that more job openings are solved by networking than by postings. “Networking is the cornerstone who is successful job search, especially in a difficult environment like we’re in right now.”
