Marian Pentecost Novena: Day 1

Today is Ascension Thursday, May 21.  In just ten days, we will celebrate Pentecost as well as the Feast of the Visitation.

After Jesus ascended into heaven, the Apostles and the Holy Women hunkered down in the Upper Room and prayed, and prayed, and prayed for ten days until the Holy Spirit came upon them on Pentecost and changed everything for the better in an instant.

We’re still hunkered down too. But let’s pray a novena over the next ten days for the end of the pandemic and for the churches to open so children can make their First Communion, the faithful can attend Mass, we sinners can go to Confession, and Jesus can be adored.  I’m also going to continue to pray for an end to abortion. And let’s do this by praying the Memorare – such a powerful prayer – so that the Blessed Mother might once again act powerfully in human history.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.  Amen.
