Fr. Richard Simon is not holding back in this episode! If you want sugar-coated or watered-down teachings, you won’t find it here. He discusses marriage, life, and gender from a Catholic and Biblical standpoint; wow, it’s both challenging and eye-opening.
He starts by addressing the confusion that sometimes creeps in about Jesus’ divinity and humanity. You know those “progressive” speakers who say we need to move beyond the Jesus of history to some abstract “Christ of faith”? Yeah, Fr. Simon’s not buying it. He takes a stand: Jesus of history = Christ of faith. One and the same. 💪 No picking and choosing what we like from Jesus’ teachings!
Then comes the big one: marriage. Fr. Simon reminds us that marriage isn’t about whatever makes us happy, but about God’s original plan for man and woman. Jesus was taking people back to the beginning, to Adam and Eve: male and female, the original covenant God intended. No room for negotiation here: marriage is exclusive, permanent, and open to life.
Fr. Simon tackles tough questions too, like divorce and annulments. An annulment? It’s not just a fancy Catholic “divorce.” It’s a declaration that there never was a valid marriage to begin with because the essential elements were missing. Big difference!
Then there’s the part that may make you sit up a little straighter: there are only two genders. Yep, Fr. Simon calls it out based on both science and Scripture: God made male and female. Period. He jokes, saying, “Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Jesus is wrong… but I’ll stand with Jesus on this one!” 😬 He makes a strong case for why even marriages that can’t physically have children are still about creating a safe and faithful environment for the next generation.
What it all boils down to? Fr. Simon’s message is that following Jesus means sticking to what He said, even if society is headed the other way, drifting “bravely downstream with all the other dead fish.” 🐟 He’s staying with the real Jesus, and he invites you to do the same. Even if it’s uncomfortable, even if you’re standing alone, be willing to take up the cross. ✝️
As Father Simon so boldly says: “Though none go with me, still I will follow.”
If you’re looking for a passionate defense of orthodox Catholic teaching on marriage, life, and gender, this episode is 🔥.
