Pope Leo Receives an Eagles Super Bowl Cap and a Pizza (Morning Air)

John Morales and Glen Lewerenz serve up one of the most delightfully random Catholic news stories you’ll hear.

🦅 Philly meets the Vatican
A group called the Philly Pilgrims of Hope came into Rome this week, led by Archbishop Nelson Pérez. They gifted Pope Leo a Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl cap. Yes. The actual Pope received actual NFL merch from Philly. 🙏💚🧢

Now, keep in mind this came just days after a group of Bears fans gave him a shirt that said, “Da Pope” (like the old SNL “Da Bears” sketch). And wouldn’t you know it? 📅 Eagles vs. Bears is happening the day after Thanksgiving.

🍕And then there was pizza.
Because why stop at NFL fashion when you can deliver deep dish to the Vatican?

During his usual Wednesday audience, the Holy Father got a pizza delivered straight from Chicago. How amazing is that?

💭 Final thoughts from the guys:

Pope Leo probably didn’t wear the Eagles hat… because his heart still belongs to the Bears and the White Sox. (South Side pride. Respect.)

Glen wants a plaque at his favorite pizza place someday that says, “Glen ate pizza here.” 😂 Let’s make it happen.
