How this diocese is ministering to the Hmong community

The Diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, has a large population of Hmong people who arrived in Wisconsin as refugees from Asia beginning in the 1970s. The Most Rev. William Callahan, Bishop of La Crosse, has found the need for expansion of the diocese’s Hmong ministry and has announced the formation of a new quasi-parish especially for this population. The new parish will be located in Wausau, Wisconsin, and will be served by pastor Fr. Alan T. Burkhardt, who currently celebrates a bilingual Hmong Mass at another local parish.
