Relevant Radio® invites you to join us in the Ember Days devotion over the next 12 months “to fast and pray for healing of the victims and purification of the Church in light of the scandal of sex abuse.” Rev. Francis J. Hoffman, ‘Father Rocky’, Executive Director at Relevant Radio, has asked all Relevant Radio associates and board members to consider making acts of prayer and penance on each Ember Day.
“The entire Relevant Radio family is invited to fast, abstain from meat, and make a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament on the Ember Days, which coincide with the changing of the seasons,” said Father Rocky.
Ember Days for the next 12 months fall on:
- September 19, 21 and 22, 2018
- December 19, 21 and 22, 2018
- March 13, 15 and 16, 2019
- June 12, 14 and 15, 2019
Ember Days are the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following Ash Wednesday, Pentecost, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the Feast of St. Lucy. These dates correspond with the changing of the seasons in the calendar year and are traditionally days of fasting and abstinence.
“Prayer is augmented by fasting, and Holy Hours in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament will win God’s grace for the conversion of sinners,” said Father Rocky. When Our Lady appeared to Adele Brise in 1859, she said, “I am the Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners, and I ask you to do the same.”
