Relevant Radio broadcasting on 70 Owned and Operated Stations

Relevant Radio® has purchased a station in Oakland, New Jersey, that reaches seven million people in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. WVNJ 1160 AM joins Relevant Radio as the 70th Owned and Operated station in the network.

“We are grateful to our bishops who have given their support in our endeavors to serve the Church in the New York City and Newark metro areas. Relevant Radio is committed to reaching people where they are.  Combined with our stations in Los Angeles and Chicago, this acquisition strengthens our foothold in the three largest Catholic populations centers in the country.  As always, we give thanks to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, and all of our generous listeners and supporters,” said Rev. Francis J. Hoffman, “Father Rocky”, Executive Director at Relevant Radio.

The FCC officially approved the purchase of the station on November 26, and the station began broadcasting at 10am ET on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. The Relevant Radio network now reaches 145.5 million souls from coast-to-coast, in every corner of the United States.

“This will allow us to serve even better the Faithful in Bergen and Passaic Counties in New Jersey, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau Counties in New York, as well as the five boroughs of New York City, and Fairfield County in Connecticut.  WVNJ 1160AM will complement our other large stations in the Tri State Metro area including WNSW 1430 AM (Newark, NJ)  and WWJZ (Philadelphia),” said Fr. Rocky.

1160 AM in New Jersey will be one of nearly 130 stations that broadcast Relevant Radio programming, 70 of which are owned and operated by the network. Relevant Radio produces nearly 90 hours of original programming each week and also broadcasts premium content from other providers including the EWTN News Nightly and Bishop Barron’s Word on Fire, all heard on terrestrial stations, at RelevantRadio.com, and on the Relevant Radio mobile app.
