The Memorare is a well-known and loved prayer that invokes the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Memorare name comes from the first word of the prayer in Latin. Many saints reportedly prayed this prayer regularly throughout their lives, including St. Francis de Sales and Mother Teresa.
The origins of the Memorare may date back to the 12th century, but it was popularized in the 17th century by Fr. Claude Bernard, a French priest who used the prayer extensively in his ministry to the poor and imprisoned. He believed that recitation of the Memorare and intercession of Our Blessed Mother had special power.
Relevant Radio® also believes that the Virgin Mary, Mother of God, has special intercessory power before the throne of her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
