Summer Ember Days: Prayer for Victims and the Church

Relevant Radio® invites you to join us in the summer Ember Days on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday of this week as we fast and pray for purification of the Church and healing from the horrible abuses suffered by victims.

Last September, Rev. Francis J. Hoffman, ‘Father Rocky’, Executive Director at Relevant Radio, asked all Relevant Radio associates and board members to consider making acts of prayer and penance on each Ember Day for twelve months. Though the headlines have faded, it remains vitally important that we continue with prayer and penance for this intention.

“The entire Relevant Radio family is invited to fast, abstain from meat, and make a Holy Hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament on the Ember Days, which coincide with the changing of the seasons,” said Father Rocky.

Remaining Ember Days for 2019 fall on:

  • June 12, 14 and 15
  • September 18, 20, and 21
  • December 18, 20, and 21

Ember Days are the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following Ash Wednesday, Pentecost, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and the Feast of St. Lucy. These dates correspond with the changing of the seasons in the calendar year and are traditionally days of fasting and abstinence.

“Prayer is augmented by fasting, and Holy Hours in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament will win God’s grace for the conversion of sinners,” said Father Rocky.

Thank you for considering joining us in fasting and sacrifice for our Holy Mother Church.
