Strengthening Relationships Through Evangelization

When you think about sharing your Catholic faith, your mind may go straight to apologetics and defending the faith against attacks and misrepresentations that are common in our culture. And while that does happen, sharing your faith and evangelization can also be a great way to strengthen your relationships.

As Catholics, our faith is not merely a theory or a set of ideas, but a lived relationship with the Triune God. And if you love someone, typically you want everyone you know to love them too. That’s what happens when we evangelize. Sharing your relationship with the Lord can actually help strengthen the other relationships in your life, because those around you will better know who you are and what’s important to you. A listener named Dijana recently shared an example of this when she called in to The Patrick Madrid Show.

She told Patrick, “I was calling to let you know that my boyfriend, who is actually an Evangelical, has finally downloaded [the Relevant Radio® App] and started listening to it. He’s been asking me what he can do to make me happier than I already am with him, and I keep telling him that I’d like him to listen to this show.”

Explaining why she encouraged her boyfriend to download the Relevant Radio App, Dijana said, “We were actually high school sweethearts and 20 years later we have found each other and we’ve started this up all over. So we’re very, very excited about it. I am super excited and it’s just amazing how much we love each other. However, I didn’t know that he was Evangelical, so I’m trying to share my faith with him and tell him why I believe what I believe. And hopefully he can open his mind and understand where I come from. I want him to grow together with me in every possible way in our relationship.”

Patrick applauded Dijana for sharing The Patrick Madrid Show with her boyfriend, and upon learning that her boyfriend lives in Green Bay, encouraged them to make a visit to the Relevant Radio headquarters.

“First of all, you and your boyfriend have a standing invitation to come visit us in Green Bay,” he said. “You’re going to want to be sure to visit our chapel, it’s a beautiful chapel. Our Lord is present in the Blessed Sacrament, we have Mass there every day, and that would be a great way for you guys to pray together in the chapel and get a tour of the studios.”

Dijana isn’t the only person who has found Relevant Radio to be a valuable tool that helps strengthen relationships. A listener named Andrew told us, “Relevant Radio is a daily blessing that draws me closer to the Lord each day. Not only has it changed my life, but my family, friends, and co-workers lives too.”
