It was a historic moment at the March for Life in Washington D.C. when President Donald Trump took the stage. On Friday, January 24, 2020, the President of the United States spoke at the March for Life Rally, becoming the first president to do so.
“Every life brings love into this world. Every child brings joy to a family. Every person is worth protecting,” said President Trump. “And above all, we know that every human soul is divine and every human life, born and unborn, is made in the holy image of Almighty God.”
Hundreds of thousands of pro-life activists gathered in our nation’s capital for the 2020 March for Life, an annual event on the Friday nearest the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. The peaceful protest begins with a rally at the National Mall, followed by a solemn walk up Constitution Avenue to the U.S. Supreme Court building.
The President stated some basic truths about the dignity of each human life, but they are truths that many need to hear. Though we know the dignity and beauty of every life that God has designed, it’s incredible to witness the power of these words coming from the leader of the United States. May all leaders work to protect the rights of all persons, from conception to natural death.
“When we see the image of a baby in the womb, we witness the majesty of God’s creation. When we hold a newborn in our arms, we know the endless love that each child brings to a family. When we watch a child grow, we see the splendor that radiates from each human soul. One life changes the world,” said President Trump.
He praised the young people of the pro-life movement for their dedication, saying, “Young people are the heart of the March for Life. It is your generation that is making America the pro-family, pro-life nation.”
God bless the hundreds of thousands of people who travelled to the March for Life and have attended similar marches across the country this month. The movement is strong and it is growing!
