Archbishop Bernard Hebda of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis is praying the ‘Litany in Time of Need’ each day, invoking the powerful intercession of the saints for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic and all those affected by it. The archbishop is joined in praying the Litany of Saints by JunFen Freihammer, a senior at DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis, who recorded with Archbishop Hebda earlier this week at the Relevant Radio studios. Her mother, Karin Freihammer, is a Development Director at Relevant Radio in the Twin Cities.
JunFen was born in Wuhan, China, in 2001, and she was in need of a forever family. Her mother, Karin, explains, “In 2008 we were honored to have her join our family. She has been an inspiration to us, always smiling, and just full of life and joy.”
To the Freihammers, this opportunity was the working of the Holy Spirit. Karin said, “We found it providential that a young lady, who lived in Wuhan from birth to age 6, joined the Archbishop in praying for an end to the Coronavirus. It is in America that she came to know our Lord and receive the Sacraments – now she can join our local Shepherd in praying for Divine Intervention to end the pandemic.”
JunFen says that her favorite part about being a Catholic is the Holy Eucharist and being able to receive the Body and Blood of Christ. As she has battled many health struggles in her life, she credits prayer and her parents’ support with getting her through. “My mom really encouraged prayer, and I think it relieves all the stress or discomfort I felt in knowing that I didn’t go through this alone and the Lord is with me,” she explained.
