Time is a very precious gift. We don’t know how much time the Lord will give us in our lives, and so we strive to use it in a way that allows us to best know, love, and serve God and those around us. Time is also a valuable resource. Entire industries are built around the fact that many people feel they don’t have enough time to do all the things they want to do. That is why we are so grateful to our many, many listeners who give their time to volunteer for Relevant Radio®.
Relevant Radio volunteers are a crucial part of our apostolate. They assist at events, answer phones during quarterly pledge drives, help with administrative tasks, and serve as Parish or School Ambassadors in their local communities. Last year, 1,478 volunteers gave a combined 21,525 hours of their time in service to Relevant Radio. This included:
- Representing Relevant Radio at 250 parish and community events
- Putting up 1,045 Relevant Radio banners
- Distributing 1,650+ packages of Relevant Radio materials
- 125 volunteers who assisted at Relevant Radio events
The work that volunteers do is priceless, but according to IndependentSector.org, if we were to add up the value of what Relevant Radio volunteers gave through their time last year, it would total about $550,000! As a listener-supported apostolate, the generosity of our volunteers allow us to stretch the financial gifts of our listeners even further, and help more people bridge the gap between faith and everyday life.
In honor of National Volunteer Week, and in gratitude for all the ways that Relevant Radio volunteers have given of their time and talent, a special Mass will be offered at the Chapel of the Nativity at the Relevant Radio headquarters in Green Bay, WI. May the Lord richly bless all of our volunteers for their generous service to Relevant Radio!
