An Evangelization Tool You Can Use Anytime, Anywhere

It is the mission of every Christian to share the Good News with all the world. Jesus gave us this mission at the Great Commission, and His disciples heeded that call, spreading the Gospel to the ends of the earth. But in modern times, some of this zeal for evangelization has been lost.

There are many reasons that Catholics find it difficult to evangelize, but the reality is that we live in a time when sharing the Gospel is particularly needed. So how can we begin to evangelize when we don’t even know how? Fr. John Gordon stopped by Morning Air® to share why Relevant Radio® is such a valuable and powerful tool for evangelization in our time.

One reason Catholics may be hesitant to evangelize is that they simply don’t know a lot about their faith, and feel that they can’t represent it well. But as Fr. John pointed out, evangelization is not just about what you know, it’s more about how you love. And in a media landscape fueled by outrage, Relevant Radio stands apart as a place fueled by love, mercy, and encounter.

Fr. John explained, “It’s all about love. The Gospel is all about God’s love for us. And Relevant Radio is that 24/7 word being proclaimed of God’s love, of God’s mercy, of the various things that are going on and people have an opportunity to encounter Jesus,” he continued. “So the airwaves are immersed with this message of God’s love, of meeting Jesus.”

We have heard from countless listeners who have told us that before they were Catholic they were curious about the Church, but didn’t know where to begin in learning what the Church really teaches and what it means to live a Catholic life. Often someone they knew directed them to Relevant Radio, where they were able to listen and learn at their own pace and in a time and place that was most comfortable for them.

“I’m so grateful to the Lord and to Relevant Radio for this precious gift of being able to direct people,” said Fr. John. “You know you can tell people to just go to Relevant Radio and you know you’re going to hear something worthwhile. You know you’re going to hear something valuable, no matter what time of day or night you turn it on. That is a great, great gift.”

Speaking of Relevant Radio’s ability to meet people wherever they are, Fr. John said, “That’s one of the things about radio that is so great. It doesn’t respect borders or boundaries. It’s much bigger than that. And that’s beautiful. Anybody can turn to it anywhere, especially now … with the Relevant Radio App you can access what’s going on anywhere in the world. And that is a tremendous grace, a tremendous gift to know that we can turn people to it.”

But, as Fr. John pointed out, Relevant Radio is not only for evangelizing non-Catholics, it is a place where Catholics can go to for continual conversion and a continual encounter with the Lord.

“I am very, very grateful for your show, for all the others that I listen to throughout the day, because of the insights that come from it,” Fr. John told Morning Air host John Harper. “And what it does for me too, to be perfectly honest, it increases my zeal. I’m the kind of person who, when I’m around other people who are on fire for God, my fire grows. And so when I’m listening to the radio and hearing the hosts and guests, my zeal gets turned on. And I find it renews me very, very much.”
