The second of the six Virgin titles, “Virgin most Venerable” is based on Our Lady’s declaration of fact – and at the same time a prophesy that has come true. When Our Lady visited her cousin Elizabeth in Ein Karem, St. Elizabeth wondered why she was so lucky to be visited by the Mother of our Savior. Mary then broke out in praise of God and declared in her Magnificat “All generations will call me blessed.” (Luke 1:48)
That has come true. Mary is the most famous human being in history. She was famous in the Middle Ages, she is famous today, and she will be famous one thousand years from now. Long after the world has forgotten the names of celebrities, and political figures, and Church leaders who we currently think are important but will soon be in the dustbin of history, Christians will remember and hold in high esteem the name of Mary.
Virgin Most Venerable, pray for the Church and our Nation.
On Saturdays we pray the Joyful Mysteries.
