Day 31: Tower of David, Pray for Us!

The Tower of David in Old Jerusalem was a mighty tower that defended the City. Tender devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, is the Tower that defends our faith. In the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, separating France from Spain, you will find the remains of ancient stone watchtowers, which served as sentinels to warn and protect the Christians from advancing Moorish armies. Charlemagne, Roland, Roncevalles, Covadonga, El Cid are epic names of persons and places caught up in that struggle, the longest war in the history of the world.

The Blessed Mother, of the House of David, is like a strong tower who wards off the attacks of the enemy. Stay close to her by daily devotions – the Rosary, the Angelus, the scapular – and you will keep the enemy at bay, and you will stay strong in the Catholic and Christian faith.

Mary, Tower of David, pray for the Church and the nation.

On Thursdays we pray the Luminous Mysteries.
