There were patriarchs in the Old Testament (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) and there are patriarchs today, as head of a Church, and as the head of a family. Precisely in an age when the secular culture calls into question the role of the father and the role of the mother – calls into question the complementarity of the sexes, and God’s indelible plan for creation – it becomes all the more crucial to foster and honor femininity and masculinity.
What a powerful example the father of a family gives when he leads his family in the recitation of the Rosary. In terms of passing on the practice of the faith, where the father goes, the children follow. If you asked Our Lady, the Queen of Patriarchs, who would be a good model for fathers today, she would say St. Joseph, the greatest of all of the patriarchs.
Queen of Patriarchs, pray for the Church and the nation.
On Tuesdays we pray the Sorrowful Mysteries.
