One of my favorite saints is St. Luigi Guanella, who died in 1915 and whose feast we celebrated on October 24. He was the founder the daughters of St. Mary of Providence. St. Luigi had a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus which is what led him to start religious congregations of men and women who would reach out to the most poor and abandoned.
