Today we celebrate the feast of the Presentation of Mary. This feast commemorates an event that isn’t in the Bible but is an ancient tradition in the Church. When she was a little girl, Mary’s parents took her to live in the Temple in Jerusalem. It makes sense that she would spend so much time in the temple which symbolized God’s presence on earth. She was a living temple who would not only symbolize how close God was to humanity, but would actually bring Him close by giving Him flesh.
