Today is the feast of St. Thomas Becket. Thomas was a friend of the English King Henry II who was in favor of Thomas becoming the Archbishop of Canterbury so that the King could control the Church. When he was made Archbishop, Thomas Becket showed that he was God’s servant first, which ultimately lead to his martyrdom in his very own Cathedral.
