Today the Church celebrates the feast of St. Sebastian. He was a native of Milan and joined the Roman army in the late 3rd century AD and eventually was promoted to serve in the Praetorian Guard to protect the Emperor Diocletian. He was arrested for being a Christian and was martyred for the Faith. St. Sebastian is the patron Saint of athletes.
