New Year, New Will

It’s a new year and we’re all thinking about starting fresh, organizing, and accomplishing some worthy goals in the months to come. You might be cleaning out the basement, decluttering the attic, or simplifying your home. Maybe you are focusing on spiritual goals in order to grow in virtue and love of God. Perhaps you are determined to exercise more and eat better. These are all excellent and worthwhile ways to improve your life, but might we suggest one more?

Here are some clues: It will not only be a benefit to yourself, but is an act of charity for your family, loved ones, and the causes you believe in. It doesn’t take much time at all but it’s a vitally important task that should not be put off for another year or even another month. After all, we know not the day nor the hour.

Have you guessed what we’re hinting at? Yes, we’re encouraging you to create a will.

71% of American adults have either outdated wills or no will at all. Some people think they don’t need a will until they are elderly. But the reality is, we could be called home at any moment and we don’t want everything we’ve worked for to be left to the state rather than our loved ones.

Couple makes a will with FreeWillSome avoid making a will because they think it’s an expensive and lengthy process. But we have some good news for you: Relevant Radio partnered with FreeWill to provide you with a free, online resource to help you create your will or trust in 20 minutes or less!

Did you know? If you die without a will, your estate goes through an intestate probate process. That means that your state laws determine who gets your assets (including money, family heirlooms, real estate), and even your pets. If you have minor children, it determines who will have guardianship over your kids. Even if your loved ones know what your wishes are, the state will make these decisions for you if you die without a will. These are not things that you want left up to chance.

Don’t let another year pass by without taking a few minutes out of your day to ensure that your property, possessions, and most importantly, your loved ones are taken care of! There’s also an opportunity to leave a legacy gift to support your favorite charities and organizations, like Relevant Radio!

Don’t delay. Create your will today!
